British Library and the F word

British Library
If there is one work I could choose to describe the British Council Library in Bangalore, it would be pathetic. The library is small, the collection paltry, and the rates steep. The gentleman at the frontdesk boasted of "a great DVD collection". In reality, it is just one slender 6-slab rack, each holding around 15 DVDs. Compare that with the tiny town of Waukesha, whose public library at the end of 2004 had ~6000 DVDs.

In all fairness, the official count on books is ~20,000 and DVDs is ~1200, if this site is to be believed.

The only more pathetic thing is probably that I signed up. Beggars cannot be choosers. This city is so bereft of affordable reading opportunities.

The F Word
Came across an interesting project around reconciliation, The Forgiveness Project. Their exhibition is known as "The F Word".

And then evening, she came..
Spent the evening on the roof watching the sky and the clouds. I love the sky. I love the lack of skylines. I hate Chicago. Watched some Monty Python's Flying Circus. A sad mix of the hilarious and boring. I guess I am making up for not attending Arun's Python sessions.

Found these four lines lying in a corner of my notebook:

fell in love with a homeless kitty
swear dear lord, never seen a thing so pretty
get her home and she turns it into a mess
figure now, to start with, why she was homeless

People think its cute :-)

The BCL in bangalore is a sham....a pathetic excuse for a library. Try out the Eloor Library on Infantry road...at least it has a good collection of books...what a sad state of affairs that the whole IT city does not have a decent library to boast of ?
